Sometimes when we are doing stuff – building, improving, changing – around the farm we don’t have a specific purpose in mind. It has been a very organic process and the intentions we started with have changed considerably as we have progressed.
But, as Paul (and Kevin Costner) says, ‘Build it and they will come.’
So it is with his most recent creation, our very own pub, the Yorkshireman…I don’t really approve of professional Yorkshiremen but we had a sign that fit. It is a great pub – well stocked, cosy and so on – but did not grow out of necessity, rather the fact that we had a big empty barn that wasn’t being used for anything. We don’t actually have a license to sell alcohol (except for the day licenses we get for events) so we won’t be open to the public or even paying guests but our friends and family have certainly been enjoying it.
